Manali Winter Carnival was started in 1977, the event was initiated by the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Y.S. Parmar did it with a focus on skiing. Since then it is organized here every New Year.
Himachal Winter Carnival which once promoted the hill culture with folk dances and Himachali music. Now it has also included other activities like music and band competitions, beauty pageants, food festivals, cultural programme, sports activities etc. colorful and entertainment filled events.
People from all over the country participate here. And also because of New Year celebration, there are many tourists here, and every year the crowd at Manali Winter Carnival is increasing.
